Firm Philosophy
Established in 1995, Petersen Criminal Defense has handled over 6000 cases. Due to ever-increasing complexity and conflicting legislation, Tom has limited the practice solely to criminal defense such as drunk driving, federal crimes, drug crimes, and violent crimes.
Tom believes in every person’s right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
In this age of electronic information and overzealous news reporting, it seems that this right has been eroded.
He tries to stop the damage before it begins. For example, Petersen once represented an adult book store owner in Omaha. The City’s plan was to arrest him on a weekly basis and make outrageous claims that were later published in the media.
Tom got an injunction against the City of Omaha and Omaha law enforcement from any further citations and arrests until the client could get his day in Court.
Tom won several jury trials and the City gave up. Had he not been able to stop the harassment, the case may have ended differently.
Tom believes that experience counts. He has handled almost every type of case imaginable ranging from actions on behalf of the United States Government against contractors over billing the taxpayers to murder charges. He believes that there is a right side of every case and that the truth is found through rigorous exercise of both State and Federal rights.
Over the years, Tom has learned to be afraid of no one. If you want a law firm that is willing to fight on your behalf, call us for a free, no-obligation consultation. If we don’t think we will be able to help your situation, we won’t take your money. However, if you have been wrongly accused, aggressive representation in criminal defense matters are only a phone call away.
Tom Petersen is a participating member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. The NACDL is the foremost legal fraternity on criminal defense.
